Typhoid fever is a life threatening illness caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi, in which an early diagnosis is highly desirable. The diagnosis of typhoid consists of isolation of the bacilli and the demonstration of antibodies.
The isolation of the bacilli is time consuming. Typhi Check can be a valuable tool in diagnosis
of acute stage in typhoid fever. It is a qualitative test for the detection of IgM antibodies to S. typhi in human serum, plas-
ma, or whole blood. It should, however, be used as a screening test in clinically suspected cases only, and its results should be confirmed by other supplemental method before taking clinical decisions.
